Eric Garner's last words & the police choke holding him caught on video above
but all that is happening in america isn't just americas problem, its humanity's. when will it be enough? when will they realise that the system is wrong? justice has not be served for trayvon martin, mike brown, eric garner, tamir rice and the never-ending list of innocent black lives (this inc women, trans & queer folk of course) that have been lost. the fight isn't over, it has just begun. it is global and it demands change. we cannot stay silent any longer and be ignorant to these issues. we must confront them, call out people who are racist, talk about these issues on social media and with the people around us. i have been shocked at the lack of posts i have seen from the people i follow on instagram, from celebrities, and on Facebook etc. just because an event or issue does not directly affect you, it doesn't mean you should hide behind yr privilege. this is so important. we are not living in a post-feminist society because racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia and the imbalance of power still exists. educate yourself about how you can help and listen to what POC have to say.
a few twitters you should follow: @deray @ShaunKing @theshrillest @accessforbidden. also rookie did a great saturday links post on ferguson here.
black lives matter. they always should have and they always must.
This situation now is so important to talk about! I´ve read that the most murder suspects were black people, but the most murder victims black people too! Racism is such a terrible and pathetic thing!
